Today I'll create a walkthrough of all the commands in rm2k3. This will not teach you to do anything special, but it'll tell you everything you need to begin making a game in rm2k3.
I'll be doing this by commands. Event commands will be bolded, followed by a description.
Message-This command inserts a simple message that will appear either at the top, bottom, or middle of the screen depending on the next command.
Message Display Options-This command affects the placing, transparency, or whether events move around during the message.
Face Graphics-Determines which face images appear in a message.
Show Choice-Displays an option part in a message.
Input Number-Opens a box in which you enter a number to change a variable.
Switch Operations-Switches are basically either on or off. This can be used and manipulated several ways to create certain phases for the same event and so on.
Variable Operations-Basically a number. This command has a variety of different ways to change a variable. You can do all the basic mathematial operations, and you can change it with a specific number, a random number, and a variety of different other options.
Timer Operations-Basically type in any amount of seconds, then use conditional branches to check the timer.
Change Money-Changes money.
Item Management-Changes items.
Change Party-Changes party.
Change EXP/Character Level/Base Statistics/Skills/Equipped Items/Character HP/Character MP/Character Condition-Exactly as the name implies.
Complete HealingFully heals the character/party.
Change Hero Name/Title-Exactly as the name implies.
Simulated Enemy Attack-Simulates an enemy attack on a hero with variance.
Change Sprite/Face AssociationChanges a character's face or sprite.
Change Vehicle Graphic/System BGM/System Sound Graphics/System Graphics/Set Screen Transitions-Exactly as the name implies. This affects the System Tab in the database.
The Second Page
Most of these are exactly as the name implies, except the following:
Recall to/Memorize Position-This simply sets the position in x/y coordinates and map ID in variables, then warps you to that area.
Store Terrain/Event IDTerrains and Events have IDs, and this simply memorizes it on a certain x/y position, then stores them in variables.
Pages 3/4
Similarily to page 2, most are self-explanatory, except the following:
Key Input Processing-Basically lets you press a key and stores it in a variable.
Tile Substitution-Changes the chipset temporarily.
Conditional Branch-This command checks for a certain condition, with a yes case, and, (optional) an else case. This way you won't need two pages.
Insert Comment-This inserts notes that are ignored in-game, but can be viewed in the editor for future reference.
Page 4 is completely self explanatory.
Well, that's it! Hope it's helped you(if you're a beginner). becouse i'm a beginner too.
