Well, better late than never, eh? After sitting at the 500k worldwide user mark for months on end, and finally pushing past the 750k mark by January; Microsoft has finally hit the 1 million worldwide user mark with Xbox Live.
Microsoft announced this statistic this past Thursday, only slightly later than the company's forecast date of June 31, 2004.
Now with expected games such as Halo 2 and EA Sports' lineup, XBL may take off even further.
Still the question remains as to how many of these newer subscribers are 2-3 month trial subscribers, and how many of these trial subscribers will continue their subscription beyond the trial time? Only time will tell, but I know more than a few people who plan on taking advantage of Xbox Live without ever paying for it for as long as they can (with multiple credit cards and free trial cards cancelling before the re-bill time). Do you?
